Christian Survivors on Twitter
Twitter has become an increasingly popular tool for organisations and communities to network and promote issues. We feel that having a Twitter page provides us with a great way of raising awareness of abuse issues within the general online community - something which is very much a part of our goal as an organisation. It has enabled us to network with similar organisations, and abuse survivors, in a way that hasn't been possible before.
Thus, a major aim of our Twitter presence is to simultaneously raise awareness of both CS and abuse issues, and to reach survivors in need of support. One of the ways we hope to achieve this is through our 5 petals brand and the launch of our own Twitter hashtag: #5petals, which we hope will become a well-used way of labelling tweets relating to survivor & abuse issues and Christian Survivors. If you'd like to search Twitter for all #5petals posts, just put #5petals in the search box in your twitter navigation.)
If you have a Twitter account and would like to follow us @SurvivorOasis to chat, meet new friends & share resources, please feel free to do so! It would be an honour if you could help us spread the word by re-tweeting our tweets, "Follow Friday" (#FF) us, and by adding the #5petals hashtag to any of your tweets that relate to abuse issues! If you'd like to support our 5 Petals initiative and help promote CS on Twitter, it would be wonderful if you used one of our 5 Petals images for your Twitter avatar, either temporarily or permanently, to help raise awareness of the new hashtag. (Or you could add the #5petals hashtag to your own avatar if you know how to edit your image in a paint program.) To add one of the images below as your avatar, please right click and save the avatar you'd like to use to your desktop and upload it to your Twitter account on your profile settings page. You'll notice some of the avs below have a small awareness ribbon incorporated into them. These are related to abuse issues : Teal for sexual assault & violence; purple for domestic violence; multicoloured patchwork for Dissociative Identity Disorder/Dissociation; navy blue for human trafficking & sexual slavery; & solid light blue for child abuse.
